Attic Insulation Done Right: Extraction, Air Sealing & Baffles
Your attic is one of the biggest sources of energy loss in a Northern Ohio home. Heat rises, and without adequate insulation and proper air sealing, that means higher winter heating bills, uneven room temperatures, and — in older homes especially — ice dams forming along the roofline every winter.

Our Attic Insulation Process
Not every attic needs the same fix, but our approach is always the same three steps:

-
Extraction — When existing insulation has settled, degraded, or been contaminated over the years, topping it off isn't enough. We remove it completely to start with a clean, accurately measured baseline.
-
Air Sealing — Insulation alone doesn't stop drafts. We seal the gaps around wiring, plumbing stacks, and light fixtures where conditioned air escapes — insulation without sealing leaves the draft cycle intact no matter how much material you add.
-
Baffle Installation & New Insulation — Before insulating, we install baffles at the eaves to preserve proper soffit-to-ridge airflow, preventing moisture buildup and keeping your roof deck ventilated correctly. Then we insulate to the R-value your home actually needs for our climate.
Recent Project: Attic Insulation Extraction & Replacement in Hinckley, OH
One of our recent jobs took us to a home in Hinckley Township, where years of settled, degraded insulation had left the attic well below where it needed to be. We did a full extraction, air sealed the attic to close off long-standing leaks, and installed baffles at the eaves to maintain proper airflow before insulating up to R-49 giving this Hinckley home a clean, modern baseline for comfort and efficiency going into winter.
